Lead Database & Data Platform Engineer – Remote (LATAM)
Join a fast-growing US-based fintech company as the top technical authority for data infrastructure. You will take end-to-end ownership of a merged database estate (Microsoft SQL Server self-managed on EC2 and MySQL on RDS), driving critical OS and database upgrades, establishing robust data standards, and ensuring high availability, security, and SOC 2 compliance.
You’ll lead time-critical Windows Server and SQL Server migrations, optimize performance, design scalable schemas, and guide the broader data engineering team. This is a high-impact leadership role for a seasoned database expert who thrives on solving complex infrastructure challenges and building resilient, audit-ready data platforms.
💰 Salary: $60,000 – $96,000/year ($5,000 – $8,000/month)
📍 Location: Remote – LATAM (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay)
🗓️ Job Type: Full-time (40h/week), Long-term
🎯 Experience: 7+ years in database administration and data platform engineering
🔧 Stack: Microsoft SQL Server (EC2), MySQL (RDS), Windows Server, AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch)
🧠 Skills: High Availability (Always On), OS/DB upgrades, performance tuning, backup/DR, SOC 2 compliance
🚀 Bonus: Snowflake administration, dbt/Rivery, data warehouse design, SQL Server migration to managed services
🤖 Tools: Proficiency with AI tools (e.g., Claude) for daily workflow optimization
🗣️ Languages: English (C1 required – strong written & verbal communication)
🎓 Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent (preferred)
🛡️ Probation Period: 90 days
